Nine chambers.
One instrument, refracted nine times. Each chamber returns one artefact — measurement, place, route, count, translation, record.
The lens, refracted.
The same instrument, held at nine angles. Each angle returns a kind of seeing the previous one could not. Light enters once; nine artefacts come out the other side, each filed against the room it was taken from.
- FORM
- Nine chambers, one instrument.
- RULE
- Each chamber returns one artefact — nothing more.
- TENURE
- The chamber holds attention only as long as needed.
- ARTEFACT
- Measurement, place, route, count, translation, or record.
plate · the prism of disciplines — establishing
What follows is the long form. The dossier above is the cover slip; this is the file underneath. Read in any order. Annotated where useful, unannotated where not. Filed by hand. Kept on the record.
The instrument is built for what is held now and rehearsed for what comes. The protocols here apply to the optic in the hand and to the optic that will follow.
doctrine — five articles
What the chamber agrees to.
- i
Refraction as method
The lens of record is a single instrument. The disciplines are nine ways to ask it a different question. The white light is one. The colours are nine. They are different angles of looking through the same lens.
- ii
Each chamber is a discipline
A chamber is a way of behaving that the lens can adopt under stated conditions. SpaciAR is the discipline that treats placement of objects in the room as the primary act. The lens does not change. The angle of address does.
- iii
Disciplines do not bleed into each other
When the chamber is Place, the chamber is Place. When the chamber is Train, the chamber is Train. The lens does not show one discipline a memory it learnt only inside another. The carrier knows; the chamber waits.
- iv
Cross-mode memory is opt-in
Crossing from Place to Train requires the maker's consent for each thread. Without it, the chambers do not speak. With it, the carrier passes the thread cleanly and leaves a note.
- v
Glass and hand are the same instrument
Each chamber has been written so its protocol survives the change of optic. A chamber tested in the hand will be the same chamber on the glass. The disciplines persist; the carrier rewrites itself underneath them.
apparatus — reduced inventory
The instrument, listed.
- CHAMBERS
- Nine. Held in two rows and a wide row.
- ROW · ONE
- Place, Style — visual, generative.
- ROW · TWO
- Train, Nav, Learn — movement, place, knowledge.
- ROW · WIDE
- Social — the bridge to the public chamber.
- ROW · UTILITY
- Count, Translate, X-ray — single-task, lighter.
- CARRIER
- The lens. The chambers ride on it.
- CROSS-MODE
- Persistent thread, opt-in.
- OUTPUT FORMS
- Anchor, mesh, transcript, viseme, receipt, post.
- CREATOR ROUTE
- Tools available to those building on the lens.
- MARKETPLACE
- Reserved for the chambers that earn one.
Reserved for later: the optic in the glass, the open layer the chambers ride on, the creator route, and the marketplace. Each is a separate file, opened only when its time has come.
field notes — operating diary
From the floor.
- MMXXVI · iv · 02Place chamberThree sofas placed across one room in twenty seconds. The maker chose the second one. The instrument retained the choice as a preference and nothing more.
- MMXXVI · iv · 09Train chamberA novice runner was given a one-week protocol. The chamber did not propose it. The chamber listened to the runner describe what hurt.
- MMXXVI · iv · 16Nav chamberIndoor relocalisation across three floors of a converted warehouse. The carrier kept the same anchor. The chamber drew the line between then and now.
- MMXXVI · iv · 23Learn chamberA piano lesson begun on the kitchen counter resumed at the instrument an hour later. The carrier carried the note.
- MMXXVI · v · 04Style chamberTwelve treatments offered for a room. The maker kept three and discarded nine. The chamber did not ask why. The discarded nine were not retrained on.
- MMXXVI · v · 11Social chamberA post crossed from a private room into the public chamber only because the maker placed it there. The room kept the original. The chamber kept the cited copy.
parable — illustration
The nine disciplines and the one room.
A practitioner placed a single chair in a single room. Place said: the chair is here. Style said: the chair could be cane, or oak, or steel. Train said: stand from the chair, sit again, count. Nav said: walk past the chair, return, the chair is in the same place. Learn said: a child read here once, the page is the same. Social said: someone may see the chair if you place it there. Count said: one chair. Translate said: the chair has names in seven other languages, kept on file. X-ray said: the chair is wood and felt and four small screws. The room held all nine readings without complaint. One room. Nine readings.
manifesto — ten lines
What is true here.
- 01Nine chambers. One lens.
- 02A chamber is a discipline, not a feature.
- 03Disciplines do not bleed into each other.
- 04Cross-mode memory is opt-in, always.
- 05The carrier carries. The chambers wait.
- 06Each chamber leaves a single artefact: anchor, mesh, transcript, post, receipt.
- 07What is built on the lens is built once and runs across the optics.
- 08The disciplines are written for hand and glass alike.
- 09The marketplace is reserved for the chambers that earn one.
- 10The open layer is the property of those who build on it.
glossary — terms in use
The vocabulary.
- Chamber
- A discipline of the lens, addressed by name.
- Carrier
- The lens. The reason the chambers can speak the same language.
- Hand-off
- The act of passing a thread from one chamber to another. Requires consent.
- Discipline
- A way of behaving the chamber has agreed to. Not a feature. Not an option. A protocol.
- Maker
- The singular author of the session.
- Public chamber
- Social. The only chamber that admits readers other than the maker, and only for posts the maker has placed there.
- Open layer
- The shared substrate the chambers sit on. The reason a third-party tool can plug in without becoming a chamber itself.
errata — corrections of record
What was wrong, what was filed.
- Ω.4 · 2026-iv-02The Place chamber's anchor table briefly forgot a chair across a backgrounding. The carrier now persists the anchor outside the chamber. Filed by the Place chamber, countersigned by the carrier.
- Ω.6 · 2026-iv-19Style accepted treatments faster than the maker could refuse them. The chamber now waits between offers. Filed by the Style chamber, witnessed by your pace.
- Ω.9 · 2026-v-04Cross-mode hand-off from Train to Nav lost the runner's heart-rate stream. The carrier now keeps the stream until both chambers acknowledge it. Filed by Train, countersigned by Nav.
charter — selected lines
One lens splits into nine. Each chamber holds a different kind of seeing.
— voir / charter, line 14The chamber is a discipline. The discipline is a contract. The contract is plain.
— voir / charter, line 16What is written for the hand is also written for the glass.
— voir / charter, line 23
plate · the prism of disciplines — closing
The prism is the inventory of how the lens can be addressed. It is also a list of what the lens has agreed to be. New chambers are not added casually. Old chambers are not deleted casually. The list is the contract.
End of file. Filed under: lens, prysm, spectrum, ledger. Cross-referenced from each chamber. Held open.
