A room with the ceiling missing.
The directorate keeps a small file of spatial environments — galaxies, fields, clouds, clockworks. Each is filed as a specimen, turnable inside its frame, drawn at the same line weight as the rest of the inventory.
Spatial environments, filed.
Each specimen below is a room with no walls. The lens is held at the centre, and the environment is what the lens sees in every direction. The directorate keeps four on the shelf at present; more will be filed when the optic catches up.
- FORM
- Volumetric specimen, single subject.
- OPTIC
- visionOS-class lens, held inside the room.
- RECORD
- Position, orientation, and gaze, kept on-device.
- EXIT
- One gesture. The room closes the way it opened.
SPECIMEN · S-001 · GALACTIC DISC
A two-arm spiral filed at low altitude. Logarithmic arms, a small bulge at the core, a faint scatter past the rim. The disc is what the lens sees when it is held above the plane.
SPECIMEN · S-002 · STAR FIELD
A volumetric scatter inside a unit sphere. Reads as density at every angle. The lens carries no preferred direction here — the field is what is measured.
SPECIMEN · S-003 · NEBULA
Three overlapping lobes of soft gaussian scatter. The cloud is filed as it is — no lighting model, no false colour. The lens reads the structure by turning around it.
SPECIMEN · S-004 · ORRERY
Four tilted rings, four satellites, a central body. The rooms above are held still; this one moves on its own clock. The directorate keeps the orrery as a reminder that some rooms run whether you look or not.
What the room agrees to.
- i
- The room is opened by the maker and closed by the maker.
- ii
- The lens is held inside the room; the room does not follow it out.
- iii
- Position and gaze are recorded only as long as the room is open.
- iv
- Nothing in the room makes a claim about the maker.
DISPATCH · WALK BACK INTO THE ROOM
The other chambers are smaller. They are filed under the same charter.
