Voir Inc. (“Voir”, “we”, “us”) operates the Voir family of iOS apps — including Voir Lite, TrainAR, NavAR, LearnAR, and the Immersive 2D / 3D kits — and the SociAR network that connects them. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, where it goes, and the controls you have.
If you only have a minute: we collect the minimum data needed to make the apps work and to give you a profile that follows you across our apps. We don’t sell your data. We don’t run ads. The camera, microphone, and location only turn on when you activate a feature that needs them, and the bytes only leave your device when the feature is one that genuinely needs the cloud (asking a question, publishing a post, generating a 3D model).
Information you give us directly
Sign-in identity. When you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive a stable subject identifier (a long opaque string) and, on first sign-in only, the email and full name your provider chose to share. We use these to create your account and keep you signed in across devices. The bearer token we return is stored in the iOS Keychain on your device.
Profile data. Display name, handle (@yourname), bio, optional avatar photo, and optional region / age bucket / sex / activity level if you fill those in. You can edit or remove any of these at any time in the Profile tab.
Posts you publish. Photos, short videos, captions, AR placements, room scans, generated 3D models, exercise sessions, and the visibility (Public / Followers / Private / Group) you set for each.
Prompts and questions. Text or transcribed voice you send to Voir’s on-device assistant, including any photo you attach to a question.
Comments, likes, follows, and group membership. Standard social graph data.
Reports and blocks. When you report a post or block a user, we retain the report for moderation review.
These categories only leave the device when you activate a feature that needs them in that moment.
Camera (rear). Used by the AR experiences, the chat assistant (“see what you see”), object detection (NavAR XrayAR, Counter, TranslatAR), style transfer, and 3D-model generation from a photo. Frames are processed on-device by our ML models (SAM 2, YOLO) wherever possible. When the feature explicitly needs a cloud model — asking the assistant, generating a 3D model from a photo, style transfer, face-swap — the relevant frame is uploaded to our proxy (voir-proxy.azurewebsites.net) which forwards it to the underlying AI provider. The frame is not retained by our proxy.
Camera (front). Used by face-swap effects (Immersive 2D), on-camera AR lenses (DeepAR, Snap CameraKit), and optionally as the reference photo for Avatar Studio. AR lens effects run on-device; the face-swap reference photo and any Avatar Studio selfie you provide are uploaded to the corresponding provider.
Microphone and speech recognition. Used by voice commands and the TrainAR coach. Speech is transcribed either on-device by Apple Speech Recognition or, where higher quality is needed, by Microsoft Azure Speech Services. We do not record or store the raw audio after transcription.
Photos. When you pick a photo for a feature (style transfer, avatar, post composer, room design), iOS hands us only that specific photo. We do not browse the rest of your library. The selected photo is treated the same as a camera frame for that feature. Saving an output back to your library is local only.
Location and heading. Used by NavAR for outdoor navigation, by Place anchors to remember where you set a model, and to power the nearby-posts map. Coordinates are sent to Voir’s servers only when you actively use one of these features. You can publish a Place anchor in Incognito mode, which strips coordinates, street addresses, geo-anchor data, and even potential address text out of the caption before the post leaves your device. NavAR’s outdoor compass also uses Google’s ARCore Geospatial service to refine pose from device sensors.
Motion sensors. Used by TrainAR for pace and form analysis and by ARKit for tracking. Motion samples stay on-device — they are not uploaded.
Apple Health (body weight, read-only). TrainAR can read your recorded body weight from Apple Health to tailor cut / maintain / build coaching to your goal. The body-weight values stay on-device unless you choose to publish a TrainAR workout summary that references your weight, in which case the value travels with that post. We never write back to Apple Health.
AR world maps (room geometry). ARKit builds a temporary map of the space you’re in to keep AR content anchored. These maps stay on-device by default and only leave when you take an explicit action that requires sharing them — namely sharing a NavAR indoor pin (so the recipient’s phone can find the same spot) or publishing a Place anchor. Shared NavAR pins are automatically deleted from our servers 24 hours after upload.
How we use information
To provide the apps’ core features — sign in, post, follow, see the feed, place AR drops, sync history across your devices, generate models from prompts, navigate.
To enforce our community rules and respond to abuse reports.
To improve the apps via aggregated, de-identified usage signals.
We do not sell your personal data. We do not share it with advertisers.
Service providers
To deliver these features we pass relevant data through the following processors. Each is contractually limited to processing your data on our behalf or, for the AI providers, governed by their own terms when we route a prompt or image to them on your action.
Provider
What they handle
Microsoft Azure
Compute, blob storage, SQL, Speech-to-Text / Text-to-Speech for our backend and for transcription.
Apple
Sign in with Apple identity verification; on-device Speech Recognition; HealthKit.
Assistant chat completions and image edits (RoomKit redesign).
Anthropic
Assistant chat completions.
ElevenLabs
High-quality voice synthesis for the assistant.
Meshy
Text-to-3D and image-to-3D model generation.
Sketchfab
3D model search and download.
MetaPerson (Avatar SDK)
Avatar Studio character creator.
DeepAR, Snap CameraKit
On-device camera effects. SDKs perform license activation against their own servers.
SerpAPI, Amazon Associates, Skimlinks
Shopping search and outbound product links (no personal data attached — only your query and a per-app sub-id).
We do not use third-party analytics SDKs that track you across apps or websites. We do not share data with advertisers.
Sharing with other users
Public visibility. Anything you publish as Public is visible to any signed-in viewer worldwide and may surface in nearby-posts search if you attached a location.
Followers / Group visibility. Limited to the audience you selected.
Shared NavAR pins. A pin link is a 24-hour, unguessable URL. Anyone with the link can relocalize at the same physical spot; treat it like sharing a location.
Legal. We will disclose data when required by valid legal process or when needed to protect users, the public, or our rights.
Data retention
Account, posts, and social graph: retained while your account is active.
Soft-deleted account: identity is removed immediately; content has a 7-day grace window before permanent purge so you can recover.
Media files (photos, videos, generated 3D models, ARWorldMap anchors) referenced by deleted posts: removed from feeds immediately, with the underlying files purged from storage within 30 days as backups age out.
Shared NavAR pins: 24-hour server-side TTL, then auto-deleted.
AI provider inputs: not retained by Voir’s proxy. The AI providers listed above may retain inputs per their own policies for safety and abuse monitoring.
Reports: retained 12 months for moderation auditing.
Diagnostic logs (when enabled): capped at 90 days.
IP addresses associated with your sign-ins and activity: retained 90 days for fraud detection, ban-evasion review, and abuse investigation. Older entries are pruned automatically. Stored only in admin-only tooling — never surfaced to other users.
Your controls
Edit or delete any post from the post’s 3-dot menu.
Publish anchors in Incognito mode to strip location data before upload.
Edit your profile (display name, handle, bio, avatar) under the Profile tab.
Revoke a permission any time from iOS Settings → Voir Lite → Camera / Microphone / Location / Photos / Motion / Health.
Sign out from the Account tab.
Delete your account from Account → Sign Out → Delete account. Triggers immediate identity removal and a 7-day content purge.
Export your data. Email privacy@voirhq.com — we’ll respond within 30 days with a JSON export of your account and content.
Children
The Voir apps are not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the EU). We do not knowingly collect data from children below those ages. If you believe a child has signed up, contact privacy@voirhq.com and we will remove the account.
International users
Your data is processed in the United States. By using the apps, you consent to that transfer. EU/UK residents have rights under GDPR/UK GDPR — access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, objection — exercisable via privacy@voirhq.com.
California users
Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA / CPRA) you may request the categories of data we hold, request deletion, and request that we do not sell or share your data. We do not sell or share your data for cross-context behavioral advertising. To exercise rights, email privacy@voirhq.com.
Security
We use TLS in transit, encrypted at rest where the underlying service supports it, the iOS Keychain (whenUnlockedThisDeviceOnly) for the on-device bearer token, and audit-logged access to production data. No system is perfectly secure; report suspected vulnerabilities to privacy@voirhq.com.
Changes
We will revise this policy as the apps change. Material changes will be announced in-app at least 14 days before they take effect.
